I am just uploading a few images from the great little Napoleonic game we played the other weekend at Mr John Maguire house. The scenario and the table layout was taken from one of the General de Brigade scenario books (I think number 3), which also provided the breakdown of regiments and brigades. However I did note that the scenario did not allow for cavalry on either side, which did make an appearance on the day and the French Dragoon even defeated their English and Portuguese opponents. Our battle which pretty close to the actual battle, with the French brigades advancing onto the Allied position hoping to push them back into the sea. This of course did not happen all our French Brigades took a massive pounding from the Allied artillery and musket fire even before we came close to delivering our own volleys. Only the converged Grenadier Brigades had some luck in pushing back a heavy skirmish line out of the vineyards one the French right flank. I wonder however if the presence of the French cavalry made have made a little difference...for us at least. Though in the end it was a great afternoon of gaming and thanks again must go to John for hosting the game and suppling his beautiful collection and terrain for the game.
Until my next post please enjoy the images.
