Wargames Foundry Late Imperial Romans Part 2

I have finally finished...well I think....the last of my Late Imperial Roman Army for a 600pt Impetvs game. The last couple of units where originally from Barry Lee's old collection:
http://emperorbaz.blogspot.com.au The troops had seen many battles and were required a make and mend in order to bring their fighting spirt back. So I have add a few highlights but trying to maintain the same original colour scheme and have also rebased the lads to match the rest of the army. In the end I think they came up a treat.

The original Clibanrii unit painted by Barry

The rebased and repainted Clibanarii by me

It's a satisfying feeling to refurbish old minis - yours look great.

Thanks both Caliban and Steven, these boys sure did come up well and I am more than happy with them. The Foundry Late Roman range is old but still one of the best out there.

Great stuff. Could I ask what paints you have use don your basing? I am ready for a change to the way I do mine, and yours look stunning here.

As expected it looks great and I agree the Foundry late Romans may be old, but are still a great range!

Beautiful figures Nathan. The Foundry romans are one of their best ancient ranges.

Hello Lawrence,

In regards to the basing paints I use a 50/50 mix of water and Tallran Sand (Citadel paints) as the base coat. Once it has dried I use Iraqi Sand (Vallejo) which is dry brushed on in three coats. Each coat I add a little white to lighten the colour.

I hope that helps?

Regards

Nathan

Thanks for the information Vinnie, much appreciated.

I'll definitely be giving that a go on future projects. I ordered some TAG Ottoman Turks on the back of the last tip you gave me by the way, and am eagerly awaiting their arrival.
