Some more of those fantastic Gripping Beast Sassanid Persians painted by Leroy Simpson. Again the figures have been based for Impetus and represent a 'T' missile unit and a skirmisher unit.

EIR Reinforcements - Aventine Miniatures Contarii

These fantastic figures have been painted by Leroy Simpson and based my me for a good friend EIR Basic Impetvs Army. It is hard to fault the Aventine range and the Early Imperial Romans are no exception. The two Aventine codes used for this unit are EIR86 Contarii in mail and EIR87 Contarii and scale. Hopefully we will se these lads in action this Sunday.

Please enjoy

Polish Winged Hussars - Old Glory

Just a few more images of my latest additions to Polish Renaissance Army I have commissioned Leroy Simpson to paint for me. Again Leroy has done a fantastic job on these lads. The Old Glory Winged Hussars are still a nice figure however, the only issue I have had is with some of the heads, which seem to have been bent in the mould during manufacture and are very difficult to straighten. This is the only downside to a rather nice range. I have based the two regiments for Baroque.

Please enjoy.

Polish Commonwealth Command - Old Glory

Following on from my last post is my first Polish Commonwealth Command stand. The Old Glory range do not have a separate pack of commanders for this range so I have had to pick a few figures out of the existing packs. I have based the figures for Baroque and to represent the main commander for my army. Other commanders will only be based two per stand. Again the figures have been painted Leroy Simpson.

Polish Commonwealth Cossack Cavalry

I have just finished basing some very nicely painted Polish Commonwealth Cossack Cavalry from the extensive 25mm Old Glory Eastern Renaissance range. The figures have been painted by the talented Leroy Simpson for the start of my Polish Baroque Army. They are an old range but like most Old Glory figures I think they have stood the test of time quite well.

A Battle Between Giants - Spanish Tercios vs Ottomans

Last Sunday I was again honoured to play another outstanding game of Baroque with John Maguire's impressive collection of figures. This time we battled the Ottoman Army against the Tercio wall of the Imperial Spanish Army in North Africa. After battling against the tercios for much of the afternoon it was easy to see why the Spanish Army was feared in Europe for 150 years.....they were unbreakable. However as an Ottoman player I learnt some very good lessons from the game. One was that the Spanish Army can rely on their infantry too much and thus their cavalry is weak. Secondly when fighting the Spanish for this period much sure you mass your whole army otherwise you will not be able to make a dent in his Army and ensure to play the game aggressively so that you get the impetus bonus and salvo for your janissaries . Additionally if you have a a spare 5points ensure to grab a master gunner, as a re-roll of your 1's & 2's can give you additional hits. Other than that please enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed the game.
